Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs Case Study
Cheryl Hannah, First Assistant Secretary Business Solutions Group and
Linda Staples, Director Business Application Training
DIMA is one of the most diverse and geographically spread portfolios
in the Commonwealth. The Department deals with tens of thousands of inquiries
from clients around the world every day. At the intersection of some
of the knottiest human dilemmas in social policy, while managing an enormous
operational business, staff in DIMA need to be supported by high quality
training.
In 2005 the Palmer and Comrie reports identified a number of areas requiring
change to ensure DIMA continued to deliver the best possible service
under its charter. In this case study, hear Cheryl and Linda explain
how e-Learning has helped to drive these reforms to “influence
a culture of well trained and supported staff delivering its core business
systems and processes”. Listen while they share their experiences
of how, in less than 18 months, e-Learning has become a critical tool
to help support and manage change across the department.
